We are currently hiring the following positions:

Environmental Planner


Environmental planning work for municipal clients, including; review of development approval projects, analyzing environmental impacts; preparing CEQA documents, studies, findings and recommendations for various projects, collecting, analyzing, tabulating and presenting land use, economic and environmental information, long-range planning work, policy planning, and business development efforts, presenting findings and fielding questions for public hearings (Planning Commission /City Council).


Minimum of 5 years (with 2 years at the Senior level). M-Group is looking to hire well-qualified planners to serve clients in Napa, Santa Rosa, Campbell and Hayward. Candidates must have CEQA experience with preferred experience working with California municipal governments.

An undergraduate degree in Environmental Planning, Urban Planning or related field, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Planning with at least 2 years as a Senior level planner. Master’s degree may substitute for one of the required years of experience. Solid CEQA knowledge and experience with principles, practices and theories of land use planning, general plan development, zoning ordinance development, procedural requirements of CEQA, California Subdivision Map Act and other regulations. Experience in reviewing technical reports of the physical environment and natural resources. The ability to translate technical analysis into language that is easy to understand, work independently and contribute in a variety of team environments. Strong organizational skills, and excellent presentation and public speaking skills.

Manage development applications for municipal clients in compliance with local zoning regulations, comprehensive plans and state laws. Planners in these positions will: conduct development and design review; process ministerial and discretionary permits; review applications for CEQA conformance and may prepare CEQA documentation; prepare detailed staff reports and presentations for decision makers; deliver public presentations; conduct plan checks; provide public counter assistance.


Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills. The Associate Planner level requires a minimum of 3 year prior experience working for a local government planning department, preferably with a California City jurisdiction. At least 5 years prior experience required at the Senior level. A Master’s degree may substitute for one of the required years of experience.
