Emily received her Bachelor's in City and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. For her Senior Project she researched Accessory Dwelling Units, specifically in college towns, as an affordable option for both college students and retirees. She also worked on the Cal Poly Climate Action Plan and was a recipient of the 2016 AICP Outstanding Student Award.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys dancing, especially Lindy Hop swing dancing. She also attends barre classes, and loves photography, trying new foods, and watching HGTV.
