Bruce has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of planning, community development, economic development, public works and project management. As a former Community Development Director and Public Works Director, he has a diverse set of administrative, professional, technical and practical skills. He specializes in working within the California Coastal Commission jurisdiction, with an accomplished portfolio of challenging and complex coastal projects and issues involving Local Coastal Plans (LCP), LCP amendments, and various special projects and plans. Bruce is results oriented and places a high degree of personal and professional value in delivering well-developed projects and plans. As a practicing planner, Bruce provides strong customer service with emphasis on accountability, predictability and productivity in the planning process.

He has considerable experience and success in helping communities realize their common goals and collective accomplishments. Bruce has been actively involved in developing and delivering an impressive portfolio of comprehensive and long range plans, strategic plans and studies, design guidelines, and special projects.  His well rounded and balanced skills extend well into development review, environmental planning, design review, historic preservation, CDGB/grants programs, building review and inspections, code enforcement, personnel and administration.  He also has a solid technical background in formulating, developing and implementing numerous successful and effective administrative procedures, planning review process improvements, and guiding organizational changes aimed at improving efficiencies and increasing levels of customer services. 

Bruce holds a B.S. in Geography from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and attended graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, Community and Regional Planning program, and the University of Nevada at Reno, Public Administration program.  He hails from the north side of Chicago, and is an avid sports fan of the home teams.  He enjoys traveling, all sports, fishing, music, good food and wine, friends and family.
