Sonal brings a wealth of knowledge from working on projects nationally and internationally. Her portfolio spans environment impact assessments, housing, urban design, transportation, and architecture. She is a result-oriented person who knows to effectively coordinate project workloads and support client needs.
Sonal is currently assisting the City of Palo Alto with design review of single-family homes, as well as the team working on The Hills at Vallco project in Cupertino.
Before moving to the United States, Sonal worked in the affordable housing sector in India, managing a team of six staff members that built an affordable housing pilot model for Gujarat, India. Her work bridged the gap between NGO’s, developers, finance agencies and project clients. Thereafter, she interned with many agencies in the U.S., including Sustainable Silicon Valley, Sierra Club- Loma Prieta Chapter, San Mateo County Transit District and San Mateo County. As a CalMod Intern with San Mateo County Transit District, she conducted various bike and pedestrian studies and performed dwell-time surveys for the efficiency of Caltrain. During her last internship as a housing intern at San Mateo County, she worked in the state tax-credit projects and produced maps that garnered appreciation from Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi’s office.
Sonal holds a Bachelor's in Architecture and Master’s in Environmental Planning from CEPT University, India, and a second Master’s in Urban & Regional Planning with specialization in transportation from San José State University.
During her free time she loves cooking, dancing, singing, and watching YouTube channels. She is also a YouTube content creator, sharing her travel experiences. In the future, she wishes to contribute more to the YouTube community by making content on work-life balance for working moms and Millennials.
