Dave has over 12 years of experience successfully leading teams in urban center and downtown revitalization projects ranging in scale and intensity for many thriving communities. His ability to meaningfully engage and empower stakeholders and community members through comprehensive outreach strategies has proven a key asset in reaching consensus.
With a strong foundation in both urban planning and design, Dave understands the importance of respecting the historical context of a place while crafting design guidelines and standards that support it. Dave has gained a valuable perspective with public sector experience, including the design review of development applications as a member of architectural review boards for cities throughout California.
As the leader of M-Group's Policy Planning and Urban Design services, Dave's areas of expertise include Vision, Corridor, Area, Strategic, Master and Specific Plans; Design Guidelines and Design Review; and General Plan and Zoning Code Updates.
Dave is also the Co-Director of Northern California APA's Sustainability Committee, and is passionate about educating communities about the benefits of sustainable practices. He has worked with many communities to plan for a balanced and well-connected mix of uses that encourage active modes of travel. In addition to a Master’s in City and Regional Planning, Dave has planning experience in the public and private sectors, working closely with communities, city agencies, and private developers.
Dave balances his work life with activities including regularly playing basketball and softball, and occasionally playing the drums. He also enjoys individual sports including road biking and had a short stint with running competitions that culminated with the San Diego Marathon. He is an avid SF Giants and 49ers fan! Dave loves traveling to cities all around the world and is always looking for the next adventure.
