ALAINA LIPP

ASSOCIATE Planner

Alaina is an experienced planner with extensive experience in current and environmental planning and local economic development. She is a skilled project manager with experience on commercial and residential projects of all sizes across multiple jurisdictions. Alaina has written and contributed to CEQA environmental review and project management for large and small projects across the Bay Area.  

Alaina excels at communicating and coordinating with diverse project stakeholders. Skilled in presentation and public speaking, meeting facilitation, and providing excellent customer service. She has simplified and streamlined permit application systems for Petaluma and Sonoma, and helps develop them. Alaina draws on her experience in small-business management and accounting to support economic development for local businesses.  

Before joining M-Group in 2022, Alaina worked for the City of Sausalito as an Assistant Planner, developing online planning services during the COVID-19 pandemic. She served as staff liaison to the Sustainability Commission and managed the adoption and implementation of the SB 1383 ordinance. As a Watershed Planner for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, Alaina reviewed green infrastructure design and tracked implementation of the Stormwater Management Ordinance.   

Alaina holds a Master’s in Environmental Planning and Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design, a B.A. in English from UC Santa Barbara, and a B.S. in Biology, with an emphasis in Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology, from CSU Channel Islands (Ventura, CA).   

It is no surprise that Alaina enjoys the outdoors and takes her young family camping along the California and Oregon coast as often as possible. She often volunteers her project management skills at local school sites. She relishes time cooking, knitting, gardening, and reads extensively.
