ALAINA LIPP

ASSOCIATE Planner

Devotion to the environment led Alaina to M-Group where her education, experience and enthusiasm are put to use primarily on environmental services, land use planning, and development review. She has been a volunteer with the National Parks, the Bureau of Land Management, and plant nurseries that specialize in ecological restoration.  As a Watershed Planner for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission from 2018 to 2020 she helped to implement the Stormwater Management Ordinance.  Alaina then went to work for the City of Sausalito as an Assistant Planner and helped rebuild and deliver services during the Covid pandemic, staffed the Sustainability Commission, and managed implementation of SB 1383 requirements.

Alaina has a B.A. in English from UC Santa Barbara, a B.S. in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology from CSU Channel Islands (Ventura, CA), and a Master’s in Landscape Architecture with a focus on Environmental Planning from UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design.  She also has a background in business management and is a licensed massage therapist.

It is no surprise that Alaina enjoys the outdoors and takes her young family camping along the California and Oregon coast as often as possible. She also relishes time cooking, gardening, reading, and tending her seven chickens.
