Alexandra (Alex) Sandoval is an emerging planner who is adept at managing complex, confidential, and detail-oriented projects, navigating compliance reviews, code enforcement, and permit processes. She is a skilled communicator who can effectively interact with community stakeholders and speak fluently in both English and Spanish.
Prior to joining M-Group, Alex excelled as a Regulatory & Enforcement Analyst, where she developed her ability to manage complex administrative duties. She consulted local code to review, approve, or deny legal documents, facilitated the processing of permitting applications, and minimized bottlenecks and wait times for stakeholders. Her keen attention to efficiency saved business owners thousands of dollars often caused by delays in permitting.
Alex has a proven history of efficiently tracking and documenting her work. For instance, she was responsible for managing the compliance review of all Medical Cannabis Dispensary operators, providing iterative feedback and notice of non-compliance to operators. She worked closely with dispensary owners, in partnership with the Department of Public Health, to ensure a smooth transition to permanent permits. Through her efforts, Alex was able to prevent several businesses from temporarily ceasing operations due to non-compliance issues by providing a pathway to compliance. She was sensitive to the unique needs of all businesses, from small, low-income, local businesses to multinational corporations, ensuring they all had an equal opportunity to remain compliant.
Alex’s upward trajectory in the planning field is not by chance. Her drive and curiosity propelled her to achieve a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law, preceded by a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Psychology from San Diego State University. As part of her undergraduate education, she participated in the Honors Study Abroad Program studying at the University of Oxford, England.
