Ali is a seasoned land use professional with over 25 years of private and public sector experience conducting development review and policy planning.
Ali has led planning, building, code compliance, housing/homelessness, engineering, and GIS operations at a director level for the Cities of San Rafael and Rohnert Park. She possesses a unique passion for public service, focusing on fostering diverse community engagement, transparency, and efficiency in local government operations. Her expertise includes land development permit processing, land use and housing policy planning, and environmental compliance.
Ali earned a bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and over the past 25 years, she has worked as staff, and staff extension, for local agencies in Napa, Sonoma, and Marin.
In 2021, Ali completed the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy, receiving recognition from State Assemblymember Marc Levine and U.S. Congressmember Jared Huffman.
During non-work hours, Ali spends time gardening, reading, and enjoying the outdoors with her family.
