ASHER KOHN, AICP

SENIOR PLANNER

Asher Kohn is an energetic, detail-oriented, and creative planner. Responsible for several housing elements throughout the Bay Area in the most recent cycle, he is primarily focused on housing and equitable development. Asher has worked on several general plans, specific plans, and other long-range policy documents including Menlo Park’s first environmental justice element and an award-winning general plan update for the City of Sausalito.

Asher emphasizes clear communication that connects complex economic and geographic analyses to the communities and agencies with which he works. This includes written reporting, mapping, and spoken communication as well as a variety of outreach tools. Asher has a Master of Urban Planning and Policy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Law degree with an emphasis in land use law from Washington University in St. Louis, and a degree in History from the University of Maryland. He enjoys reading (particularly Jan Morris, Orhan Pamuk, and Ismail Kadare) and spending time outside with family when he’s not at work.
