COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA

STANFORD COMMUNITY PLAN

The Stanford Community Plan guides future use and development of Stanford lands in a manner that implements key County General Plan principles of compact urban form, open space protection, and resource conservation. The Community Plan is comprised of seven elements. This first comprehensive update since 2000, established innovative and forward-looking policies that include required on-site housing production, updated traffic management performance standards and long-term protection of the Stanford foothills which contain critical species habitat.

Approved on a unanimous 5-0 vote, October 17, 2023.

“I just want to say to staff & M-Group, how much I have appreciated having your very thoughtful approach about how we look at these issues, because it has not only influenced the approach we have taken with Stanford University, but it helped us think more broadly about the approaches we want to take relative to housing, especially affordable housing.”

- Cindy Chavez, District 2 Supervisor, Santa Clara County
