DANIEL HARRISON

ASSOCIATE PLANNER

Daniel Harrison is a talented planner who emerged from academia with impressive professional experience to his name. Guiding Daniel’s professional work is a commitment to being collaborative, innovative, inclusive, and engaging.  Some of Daniel’s notable experience includes work on the City of Lemoore 2030 General Plan where he conducted extensive community outreach and synthesized the feedback into development alternatives, followed by due diligence in researching land use and zoning laws to ensure the feasibility of proposed plans. Daniel also developed an urban design concept plan for the City of Ventura. The plan incorporated wellness-oriented design and policy interventions at the project site. He utilized his graphic and software application skills to provide effective visualizations of the design concepts. In his primary role as an Associate Planner at the City of Petaluma, he has worked on entitlement projects at various scales. He also has a keen interest in land use law and the art of crafting land use policies and regulations that promote sustainable and equitable development.  

Daniel has a serious interest in urban design and how the built environment can promote public health and well-being. With a strong respect for urban history, Daniel is enthusiastic about planning, creating, and evolving Bay Area communities for a bright and lasting future. He values open communication, with a focus on detail, and thrives in collaborative efforts where his innate patience and compassion make him a natural for engaging the community and building consensus amongst project stakeholders.

Daniel earned the distinction of Master of City and Regional Planning from Cal Poly SLO, preceded by a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban History from Occidental College in Los Angeles. Daniel’s roots are in Southern California where he developed his love of surfing, golf, and anything on the water or a hiking trail.
