GERRY MARTIN

Assistant Planner

Gerry Martin is an Assistant Planner dedicated to improving the Bay Area through well-researched urban planning practices. He has a particular interest in how the built environment interacts with the public realm and values planning approaches that create a greater sense of community and livability through design.

Gerry’s primary assignment is as a current planner in the Town of Atherton, where he supports the day-to-day operations of the Planning Department. His work mainly includes development review, serving residents at the public planning counter, preparing staff reports, and presenting projects to the Planning Commission. Additional projects with M-Group have included assisting with current planning in Redwood City, researching and drafting Historic Resource Evaluations, and representing M-Group clients at community engagement events. Before joining M-Group, Gerry interned at the City of Pacifica as a current planner and worked at Biederman Redevelopment Ventures, where he helped execute public programming and space activations at Salesforce Park in San Francisco.

Gerry holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Berkeley, with a minor in City & Regional Planning. Outside the office, he enjoys exploring parks and trails, discovering new places, and attending local events. He is also a musician who spends a lot of time practicing the saxophone and drums and never turns down an opportunity to perform.
