GREG POWELL
PRINCIPAL PLANNER
With over 30 years of experience, Greg Powell is an energetic planner who values customer service and engaging with the public on planning projects in their communities. He has a varied background, serving Bay Area planning departments and serving as a contract planner for a diverse range of clients. His skill set is that of a seasoned planner encompassing long-range planning, development review at all scales, and project management with a special interest in affordable housing, land use, and historic preservation.
Before joining M-Group, Greg spent over 20 years with the Land Use Division of the City of Berkeley, where he provided high-level management of staff, interpreted ordinances and policies, and collaborated with consultants. Greg is generous with his time and knowledge and has served as secretary to preservation commissions and zoning boards.
Greg holds a Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Competition License and actively races in production and historic racing classes at road courses on the West Coast. He also serves as a race steward for production and historic racing and provides on-track coaching to drivers new to high-performance driving.
