JAMES JIMENEZ

ASSISTANT PLANNER

James Jimenez is an attentive planner with experience in policy research and data analysis. He joins the team after working for the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, where he gained experience working in the Epidemiology Unit during the COVID-19 pandemic. While working for the County of San Diego, James communicated public health policies to the public and managed sociodemographic data collected throughout the outreach process.  

James has also interned at the San Diego Association of Governments and the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation. He has gained experience working on innovative projects including the dockless scooter permitting program and bikeshare station implementation in the City of Los Angeles. While interning at the San Diego Association of Governments, he worked with various stakeholder groups and industry partners on access to and affordability for broadband internet in low-income, rural, and tribal communities in San Diego County.

He has attained a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and is completing a Master of Science in City and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. During his time in school, he contributed to the General Plan Update for the City of McFarland with his graduate studio class. He contributed to the data collection process to create maps and diagrams to guide the community development process. He also helped with outreach by communicating planning principles with community members to integrate their ideas into the updated general plan.

James is interested in the intersection between public health, mobility, and inclusive design. He is inspired by innovative projects that aim to improve access for all. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, reading, and riding his bike.
