MIKE JANUSEK, AICP
SENIOR PLANER
AICP-certified, Mike Janusek is a highly motivated planner with experience in both current and long range planning. Prior to joining M-Group, Mike gained public sector experience working for the North Bay community of Sausalito. He led the City of Sausalito’s Temporary COVID-19 Outdoor Activities and Encroachment Agreement program to allow outdoor dining and retail opportunities for local businesses in compliance with state and county social distancing requirements. Mike’s land use expertise comes from working in complex planning environments. He has practiced professionally in California, Oregon, Washington, and Illinois.
Mike’s strengths lie in his project management skills for entitlement projects, his ability to interpret and apply zoning codes, and his collaborative approach with colleagues, the public, and development proponents. He is a spatial thinker with advanced GIS skills and a passion for maps.
Mike holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Economics from Loyola University Chicago and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA. Mike is active in professional organizations, including APA California, and notably served on the Young Leaders Group Committee for Urban Land Institute Northwest and as an AICP exam prep panelist for APA Oregon. Mike is a former NCAA Division I track athlete who enjoys trail running in his spare time.
