MIKE JANUSEK, AICP
SENIOR PLANER
AICP-certified, Mike Janusek is a highly motivated planner with experience in both the public and private planning sectors. Diverse planning experience has developed his ability to nimbly adapt to planning environments and quickly understand the character of a community. Prior to joining M-Group, Mike was a staff planner for the City of Sausalito, where he led the City’s Temporary COVID-19 Outdoor Activities and Encroachment Agreement program and provided development review for a range of development types, including hillside residential, commercial redevelopment, and industrial waterfront projects.
Mike has helped cities across the Bay Area successfully navigate the entitlement process for complex development projects, particularly for housing subject to California laws for streamlined review. His strengths include project management, interpreting and applying zoning codes, and a collaborative approach with colleagues, the public, and development proponents.
Mike holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Economics from Loyola University Chicago and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA. Mike is active in professional organizations, including APA California, and has served on the Young Leaders Group Committee for Urban Land Institute Northwest and as an AICP exam prep panelist for APA Oregon. Mike is a former NCAA Division I track athlete who enjoys trail running in his spare time.
