PRINCIPAL planner

Suzanne Avila is a planner with diverse interests that spur her professional drive. She has been in the planning field for 34 years spanning private sector, municipal agencies, consulting firms, and independent consultancy.  As a former Planning Director, Suzanne understands the challenges of creating and sustaining quality communities. She continues to lend her expertise to improving the Bay Area, drawing inspiration from her travels by observing various cultures and how they correlate with their built and natural environments.

Suzanne’s career originated with a degree in Environmental Studies which led to a continually progressing list of accomplishments including management of large-scale commercial and residential developments, long-range planning initiatives, Zoning Administrator responsibilities, General Plan Updates, and public interface with successful mediation of interested parties and stakeholders, to name a few.

Suzanne is an avid Scuba diver, traveler, and photographer with an affinity for British mysteries. When not ‘on the clock’ she will most likely be found hiking, biking, or swimming - or curled up with a good book.
